Din Tai Fung celebrates expansion, relocation with ribbon-cutting
Din Tai Fung has moved to the first level of Lincoln Square North, and we celebrated last week with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and the first round of service.
The Yang family, their business partner David Wasielewski, and the Chamber’s very own Christine Liu all spoke during the get-together, and the ordeal drew a crowd from antsy foodies and local business leaders alike.
“I remember it was 2010, I was a senior in high school, and that was the opening of our first Din Tai Fung upstairs,” said Albert Yang, third-gen DTF-er. “I was making dumplings for hours, getting ready for the grand opening, and now, here we are today.”
Wasielewski did a bit of his own reminiscing as well, taking the moment to thank Kemper Development Company for helping them bring not one, but two locations to fruition within their property.
“Fourteen years ago, [Kemper] took a chance on an unknown restaurant guy who wanted to open a store without any restaurant experience, or any business experience at that,” he said. “He took a chance and really helped me with my dream, and I like to think that this location also helped to bring Din Tai Fung to what it is today.”
