Stephanie Bowman

Port of Seattle Commission Position 3

The Eastside Business Alliance is pleased to support Stephanie Bowman’s candidacy for Port of Seattle Commission.

Stephanie Bowman has been a strong and effective advocate for Eastside residents and businesses during her tenure on the Port of Seattle Commission. She has made fostering stronger ties with the Eastside a priority, personally serving on the Bellevue Chamber of Commerce Board and fulfilling her 2019 promise to create a new Port community representative for East King County.

Commissioner Bowman has been a careful steward of the Port’s financial well-being, strategically investing in Port assets that will bring long-term benefits to our region. She has been deeply involved in ensuring sustainable growth of Sea-Tac Airport, resulting in dozens of new international flight destinations that enhance the ability of Eastside businesses to connect with their global customers more directly. Her leadership was directly responsible for the landmark agreement with the Port of Tacoma to establish the Northwest Seaport Alliance.

Understanding the need for the Port to invest in all communities throughout King County, Commissioner Bowman led the effort to create a new program to fund business and economic development. Over the past four years the Eastside has received more than $1 million in support through this program. As a workforce development leader, Bowman championed the Youth Opportunity Initiative, a public-private partnership to create more than 200 new internships in Port-related industries for our most at-risk youth in King County.

The Port of Seattle is a growing force for economic development in our region. For decades it was dominated by West side interests and priorities. Bowman has successfully balanced her attention on the Port’s critical assets in Seattle and South King with a growing recognition that the Port has much to offer Eastside businesses and communities. The Eastside Business Alliance strongly supports her reelection.
