Dow Constantine

King County Executive

The Eastside Business Alliance supports Dow Constantine for reelection to the position of King County Executive.

Amid a year of unprecedented challenges brought about by the pandemic, King County, under Dow’s leadership became one of the most vaccinated counties in the country. When his backyard became ground zero in the U.S. for the virus, Dow turned to public health experts to help guide the county’s response. The difficult decisions he faced were made with broad community input and limited politics.

Dow’s career in public service began in Washington’s House of Representatives and later the State Senate, where he served as vice-chair of the Ways and Means and Judiciary Committees. In early 2002, Dow was appointed to the King County Council where he served for nine years before being elected to King County Executive in 2009.

As a long-time Seattleite, it would be easy for Dow to hold to his westside base by ignoring Eastside priorities. But Dow has reached out, shepherding the expansion of high-capacity transit to the Eastside and partnering with Councilmember Balducci to help fund further development of Eastrail.

As he campaigns for another term, Executive Constantine is focusing on his Health Through Housing Initiative, a regional approach to address chronic homelessness across King County. By the end of 2022, King County will partner with local jurisdictions to create up to 1,600 emergency housing and permanent supportive housing units for people experiencing chronic homelessness.

While electing an Eastsider to this influential post is long overdue, Dow has earned out vote for one more turn.
