Bellevue Blitz Roundup: Bellevue Proposition Two Next Steps; Bellevue Way SE Project Moves Forward; Continued Closure of 114th SE and SE 8th.

Bellevue Proposition Two – Next Steps
Last month voters approved Bellevue Proposition Two regarding Neighborhood Safety, Connectivity and Congestion Relief, by a vote of 54%. The newly adopted 2017-23 CIP does not assume any levy proceeds, so there will likely be a supplemental budget process early in 2017 to allocate these monies.
The Chamber strongly endorsed this ballot measure and has argued in favor of spending $1 million per year on major capital projects which support inter and intra-neighborhood connectivity. We’ll keep you posted, as we hear more from Council on how the public may influence which projects are funded.
Bellevue Way SE Project Moves Forward
Keeping people moving on Bellevue Way SE has long been a top priority of the Bellevue Chamber. Last summer, we received a briefing from Bellevue staff and attended a community open house on early design alternatives.
Now the project is ready for additional public comment. Mark your calendars for the following:
- Monday, January 9, 2017 – Possible project briefing at Council study session;
- Thursday, January 19, 2017 – Community Open House;
- Tuesday, February 14, 2017 – Briefing before Chamber Transportation Committee (7:30 AM).
114th Avenue SE Project and Other Construction Closures
As reported earlier, 114th Ave. SE between SE 6th & SE 8th will remain closed through December 23 and then briefly reopen. Subsequently, the road will close between SE 6th St. and Main St. from December 23 – January 20.
Similarly, the right lane (westbound) on SE 8th will remain closed between 114th SE and 112th SE until approximately mid-January 2017.
We’ll do our best to stay on top of these closures, but be sure to consult the City’s traffic alert page for frequent updates.
