Genesee Adkins has joined HDR, bringing 20 years of experience in key public policy roles—most recently as chief of staff at SDOT. Adkins will focus on business development and external community relations at all levels of government. She has also served in strategic policy roles with the University of Washington, King County Executive Dow Constantine, the City of Seattle, Transportation Choices Coalition, and Futurewise.

Jared Axelrod

Jared Axelrod is the Manager of Public Policy for Amazon. He works with policymakers at the local, regional and state levels in Washington state. He also works with trade associations and policymaker organizations throughout the United States to better serve Amazon’s customers and advance Amazon’s public policy priorities and worldwide operations.

Prior to joining Amazon, Jared was the Government Affairs Manager for philanthropist Paul G. Allen’s Vulcan Inc. There, he was responsible for day-to-day government relations activities at the state and federal levels on a wide variety of projects, worked to implement legislative and public affairs initiatives for Vulcan and Vulcan-affiliated organizations, and represented Mr. Allen in various legislative, political, and business settings.

Prior to that, Jared worked at Ceis Bayne East Strategic, a local government relations and public affairs firm in Seattle, where he supported various public, private, and non-profit clients. He also previously served as a Legislative Aide for U.S. Senator Patty Murray in her Washington, D.C. office; handling the Senator’s defense, veterans’ affairs, technology, telecommunications, space, science, and judiciary portfolios.

Jared received his Masters of Public Administration from the Daniel J. Evans School of Public Policy and Governance at the University of Washington, and his B.S. in Political Science and Economics from the University of Oregon. He currently resides in Seattle.

Kate’s work has focused on the city’s relationship with Sound Transit during the planning and construction of East Link light rail and property acquisition issues arising from major city transportation projects. She is LGBTQ liaison for the city.

McCullough HillJessica Clawson

Jessica Clawson is a land-use attorney with McCullough Hill Leary. Her focus is land use entitlements in complex urban regulatory environments. Born and raised in the Puget Sound area, she has assisted in permitting thousands of residential units and several million square feet of office space in the region.

Jessica enjoys spending weekends on Hood Canal with her husband, two young children, and a very large cat.

Sonja Forster

Sonja Forster is currently the Seattle District Manager for the Associated General Contractors of Washington. She serves AGC members in King County, and manages local government affairs for the region, Port of Seattle, Sound Transit and all Federal Facilities. A highlight of her tenure at AGC has been as the lead advocate of Culture of CARE – AGC’s platform for diversity and inclusion efforts in the commercial construction industry. In addition, Sonja serves as an appointee to the Priority Hire Advisory Committees of both King County and the City of Seattle. Prior to joining AGC in 2016, Sonja served as Vice President for Enterprise Washington, a state-wide business advocacy organization, where she managed programs to support the election of business-minded candidates to the Washington State Legislature. A graduate of the University of Washington, Sonja lives in Northwest Seattle with her two boys aged 14 and 10.

Delivery Express, Inc.David Hamilton

Dave Hamilton is President of Delivery Express, Inc. The company manages high priority freight around the US with a concentration in the NW. The company specializes in supporting healthcare, retail, and distribution supply chains that have critical deadlines.

Whether the shipment is a lab specimen that needs to move across town in an hour or hospital supplies that need to move during the night or parts that need to be delivered into a retail location before it opens for business in the morning, Delivery Express manages the entire process from beginning to end with a constant focus on on-time delivery.

Delivery Express also operates distribution/operations centers in Tukwila and Spokane and a warehouse in Kent.

Dave was born in Everett and moved to the Eastside as a youngster where he has lived ever since. He and his wife, Kristian, are guiding their youngest of 6 through his final 2 years of high school and live in Bellevue. Dave is active in philanthropic work and community service and currently serves as the Vice Charr of Bellevue’s Parks and Community Services Board.

Jim is from Boulder, CO and a graduate of the University of Colorado. 

With professional focus on public policy, public affairs and strategic communications, Jim joined Kemper Development Company as Vice President in 2004.  

Prior to joining Kemper, Jim worked in Washington DC as a legislative aide to US Senator Frank Murkowski; in Law and Corporate Affairs for Microsoft Corporation; and as Director, US Public Policy at Amazon.  

In his role at KDC, Jim is responsible for government affairs, public relations, communications and strategic initiatives.  Jim manages a land-use legal team and works closely with KDC’s corporate marketing, operations and real estate development teams.

Jim is immediate past chairman of the Bellevue Chamber of Commerce and has served on the boards of the Bellevue Police Foundation, Eastside Business Alliance, Overlake Hospital Foundation, Association of WA Business, Seattle Sports Commission and the International Friends School in Bellevue.

MicrosoftMichael Mattmiller

Michael Mattmiller is a government technologist who champions efforts to connect people with their government, increase workforce productivity, and increase digital equity. Serving as the Chief Technology in the City of Seattle from 2014-2018, Michael In led the creation of the City’s consolidated technology department, which brought together more than 650 professionals and provided the scale necessary to deliver powerful technology solutions for the City and public it serves. In addition, Michael led the creation of a City-wide privacy program to build public trust in how their municipal government collects and uses their personal information and a broadband program that has increased the availability of fiber-to-the-home gigabit broadband service throughout the city. Working with other departments, Michael helped modernize critical public-facing systems, facilitating the migration to modern cloud-based computing platforms that reduced costs and increased public satisfaction with City services.

Michael joined the Microsoft State Government Affairs team in 2018, helping state and local governments achieve more by leveraging Microsoft’s services and policy resources. Previously, Michael was a consultant at PricewaterhouseCoopers where he helped federal agencies secure and manage their technology investments. He serves on the boards of the MetroLab Network, an organization that encourages government-university collaborations to solve urban challenges using data and new technologies, and is an advisor to the Internet of Things Consortium. He received a Bachelors of Business Administration and Masters of Science from The George Washington University.

Beth Osborne is a seasoned public affairs professional with over 17 years of experience working for government and nonprofits on community engagement, public policy, and advocacy.

As Director of Local Public Affairs at Bellevue-based Symetra, she is focused on outreach to local government, business and community organizations in King County. She previously had served as Deputy State Director for U.S. Senator Patty Murray where she managed a statewide community outreach team that engaged Washington State’s vast constituencies.

Prior to that role, as the Port of Seattle’s Senior Federal Government Relations Manager, she led advocacy and coalition-building efforts to strengthen port competitiveness and the local economy by working on efforts to secure a $20 million TIGER grant, creating fairness in the harbor maintenance tax and modernizing investments in aviation infrastructure. From 2003-2012, she held a variety of roles for then-U.S. Representative Jay Inslee including Deputy Chief of Staff and Legislative Director and supported his work on education, climate policy, and women’s issues.

Beth loves traveling internationally and spending time at her family’s cabin on Whidbey Island.

Craig Pankow joined The Partners Group in 2016 with over 30 years of experience under his belt in the insurance field, including extensive expertise in team and operational leadership, strategic planning, and sales management. Craig draws from his insurance experience as President & CEO of PointSure Insurance Services, Western Region Marketing Officer of Willis of North America, Executive VP/Co-Founder of Penhurst Insurance Services, and Regional Marketing Officer of Eagle Pacific Insurance Company.

Craig is a graduate of City University with both a BA and Master’s degree in Business Administration and Management. Craig also has an Associate’s degree in Risk Management from the Insurance Institute of America.

Craig was one of eight founding members of the Rick Pankow Foundation, an all-volunteer that is designed to help cancer patients and their families deal with the financial challenges of the disease. He stays busy raising funds for this organization through an annual golf tournament, a 5K run/walk, and the Trees of Hope campaign. In his free time, Craig enjoys the outdoors by hiking and boating with his wife and four daughters.

Megara Potts has been a member of the Eastside community since 1983. Washington Federal Bank is her corporate home, serving as AVP/Manager in Bellevue, specializing in custom construction (retail and spec), land and purchase loans.

She divides her time between work and volunteering; currently facilitating financial Education classes with Hopelink and other community organizations as well as a build here and there for Habitat for Humanity.

Megara has also served on the scholarship, transportation, and public affairs committees at the Bellevue Chamber of Commerce and is currently a member of the Eastside Business Alliance.

Leslie Smith is the Director of Public Policy at Vulcan Inc. and an integral member of the government and community relations team. In addition to building strong relationships with elected and civic leaders, she participates in regional policy deliberations on issues ranging from transportation infrastructure to homelessness and housing.

Prior to joining Vulcan, she was the founder of the Alliance for Pioneer Square; the economic development organization credited with the transformation of Seattle’s oldest neighborhood.

In addition to her roles in leading non-profits, Leslie has run her own consulting firm, served as COO of the Bainbridge Graduate Institute, CEO of the Washington Initiative for Supported Employment, and as the executive in residence for the Center for Disability Policy and Research. Leslie brings a track record of vision, strategy, and effective execution in senior leadership positions across sectors. She has a MA in organizational systems and is a certified executive coach.

Carol is an accomplished executive with extensive experience in marketing and government relations. She has a diverse background in telecommunications, civic business groups and philanthropic organizations. She has over 20 years of experience with the AT&T External Affairs organization leading numerous successful campaigns to gain government support for wireline and wireless network programs. Over the life of her career at AT&T, she has experienced tremendous industry evolution.

Carol has held many leadership roles with Community Based Organizations. She currently serves on the boards of the Bellevue Chamber of Commerce; USO Northwest; the Washington E911 Advisory Council; Washington Alliance for Better Schools; and the national board of InspirASIAN, one of AT&T’s 12 Employee Resource Groups.

Born in Key West, Florida, Carol grew up in Southern California and graduated from Santa Ana High School and the University of Redlands. Carol lives in Woodinville, Washington where she enjoys gardening, golf, travel, and spending time with friends and family.

Kristi Tripple is Vice President for Community Development at Rowley Properties, Inc. She is a native of Washington and graduated from the University of Washington with a Bachelors of Arts in Society, Ethics and Human Behavior.

Kristi began her career working for the community and technical college system with an emphasis on workforce and economic development. Serving as the Director for the Business Training Center at the Lake Washington Institute for Technology, she had the opportunity to serve as the entrepreneurial “arm” for the college by developing innovative partnerships, creating new programs and services, and finding new ways to connect the community through economic development initiatives. She spent significant time working with businesses (such as Harley Davidson, Boeing, Molbaks, and Amgen) to address their workforce needs and in the community working with Greater Eastside chambers and cities. In 2005, she changed careers to property development/ governmental affairs with Rowley Properties, Inc. as she could see a similar connection of people and place. Throughout her life, she has always helped others and gravitated toward positions where she could help make a difference. Her most recent accomplishment was helping the Rowleys lead the public negotiation and successful achievement of a 30-year development agreement with the City of Issaquah. The development agreement covers 78 acres and enables re-development from single-use/suburban properties into two new neighborhoods (Hyla Crossing and Rowley Center) that will be mixed-use, complete, compact and connected.

Believing it is important to be actively engaged, Kristi currently volunteers on the City of Issaquah’s Economic Vitality Commission. Prior, she served on the Greater Issaquah Chamber of Commerce slate of offices for six years and was Board chair in 2011. In her former career, she served on the State Board for Community and Technical Colleges’ Workforce Education Council and Continuing Education Council.

Kevin Wallace oversees all development and acquisition activity for Wallace Properties. He is also responsible for all legal matters for the company’s three divisions: Brokerage, Property and Asset Management and Investment/Development. Kevin began his career as a Real Estate Attorney at K&L Gates in 1997 then moved to Foster Pepper in 2001. Active in a variety of civic endeavors, he is a native of Bellevue, where he serves on the Bellevue City Council and lives with his wife Natalie and three sons: Gabe, Garrett and Zachary.

Leshya is a partner at Wig Properties and leads the development of mixed use and retail projects. Ms. Wig has worked in real estate development for over 10 years at companies including Colliers International, IDS Real Estate Group, and Blake Hunt Ventures. While at Wig Properties, Ms. Wig has led the development of 230K SF of retail property, and during her tenure at IDS Real Estate Group, she managed in excess of 500K SF of industrial and office properties. Ms. Wig holds an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business and a Bachelor of Arts in economics and psychology from Claremont McKenna College.

Joe is a partner and principal with Pacific Public Affairs, where he works in all aspects of strategy and execution for the firm’s clients throughout Washington State. Joe has over a decade of experience as a senior strategic communications and policy advisor in the public and private sector, including significant work in local government relations, constituent outreach, coalition building, and political strategy.

Prior to joining Pacific Public Affairs, Joe served as deputy chief of staff to King County Executive Dow Constantine. In this role, Joe led county legislative affairs, developed external relationships, and managed major strategic initiatives. Before his work at King County, Joe was Washington State operations director for President Obama’s 2008 campaign and an associate at Seattle-based investment banking firm Cascadia Capital.

Joe received his master’s degree in Public Policy from the University of Maryland, where he focused on domestic policy, political strategy, and communications. He is a graduate of Western Washington University and has a joint degree in Economics and Political Science.
