2. It's Off to Work We Go
As Washington moves through the phases of reopening, an increasing number of employees will be heading back into the office. People, policies, and protocols should be a high priority for having people return safely.
In our "Back to Work" webcast, Kristin Reed with HermanMiller shared strategy insights for COVID-19 and beyond and Gary Guenther with Kidder Matthews highlighted things to consider for the "new" office.
A toolkit produced as a joint project lead by Madrona Venture Group includes steps for deciding who should return and when, preparing the workplace, and preparing the people. AWB Rebound and Recovery also has a business toolkit to plan for a successful reopening.
3. Safety First
King County has purchased 25 million face coverings and 75,000 bottles of hand sanitizer to distribute to organizations throughout the county in preparation of people returning to work. The Bellevue Chamber has been a distribution center to get these supplies to the organizations who need them for reopening.
4. PPP Flexibility Act Passed
Congress has passed additional aid for pandemic relief, including $322 billion for the Paycheck Protection Program. The Paycheck Protection Program Flexibility Act (PPPFA) aims at making loan forgiveness easier and allows for potential full forgiveness for many businesses. The act extends the loan term, extends the loan forgiveness period, increases the maximum forgiveable compensation for owner employees/self-employed, and includes a provision for health insurance cost subtraction.
