1. DE&I: Beyond the Acronym
Bellevue Chamber Lunch
Thursday, June 17, 2021 | 12:00 - 1:00 pm
Look beyond the DE&I (diversity, equity, and inclusion) acronym and learn strategies for developing and growing initiatives to foster equity and belonging in the workplace. This program will discuss ways to translate your company’s vision into practical strategy statements, and then establish the initiatives needed to achieve those objectives.
Join us virtually every month through August as regional leaders share insights on a variety of critical topics. Each program will provide an opportunity to engage and collaborate with business leaders during the breakout sessions.
2. For Young Innovators
Young Entrepreneurs Academy
Application Due June 10
Virtual Classes Begin June 29
The Bellevue Chamber is happy to continue offering all-virtual, accelerated Young Entrepreneurs Academy (YEA!) sessions. The YEA! program teaches middle and high school students how to start and run their own real businesses and social movements. Students are guided through each step of starting an enterprise, from brainstorming the idea to pitching their business plan to investors. Classroom learning is anchored by real-world applications, such as submitting DBAs to the County Clerk’s Office, opening bank accounts, filing tax returns, and earning real profits at a trade show.
3. Office Space Demand Grows
With Washington expecting to reopen fully on June 30th, the need for office space is growing. Seattle and Eastside office rents remained relatively flat through the first three months of 2021, according to a new report, but experts expect a change in the coming weeks as the state reopens.
Many employers are still debating between a full return to the office, remote working, or a hybrid model. As more large employers continue with a gradual return to office work, smaller firms will likely follow and boost demand for office space. So far in 2021, nearly 90% of the top transactions for office space occurred in Bellevue and on the Eastside.
4. A Passion for Civic Engagement
