1. Madam Secretary
East King Chambers Legislative Breakfast
Wednesday, January 6, 2021 | 7:30 - 9:00 am
The East King Chambers Coalition Legislative Kickoff is one of the biggest political events of the year.
This year, we are proud to welcome Washington's recently re-elected Secretary of State, Kim Wyman, as our keynote speaker.
Following Kim's address, we'll be joined by leaders from each of the four corners for an interactive session moderated by award-winning journalist from Q13, Brandi Kruse.
Then choose your own adventure between three panels of legislators focusing on Economic Revitalization, moderated by Former Governor Gary Locke; Transportation, moderated by Renton City Councilmember Ed Prince; and Affordable Housing, moderated by Microsoft's Jane Broom.
2. Snowflake Lane Reimagined
We still have magic to share this holiday season! For your safety, Snowflake Lane will not include a parade or performers this year. But every night until December 24th along Bellevue Way see twinkling lights, hear holiday music and just like in the Northwest…it might magically snow! Come celebrate as you stroll or drive through this memorable experience.
3. Release the Kraken
A new pop-up shop is making waves at Bellevue Square with gear for the future hockey team, Seattle Kraken. The store is located on level 2 between Starbucks and MAC Cosmetics and will be open until December 31st. Covid safety guidelines including required masks, social distancing, and limited capacity are in place.
Visit the shop to pick up Kraken apparel, gift cards, and stocking stuffers for new and longtime hockey fans. They also have holiday ornaments that were created to benefit the Kraken Foundation with net proceeds being donated to help fight youth homelessness.
4. University of Washington's Evans School of Public Policy Research Partnership
Next year the Chamber will be kicking off an exciting research partnership with the University of Washington’s Evans School of Public Policy. We have two graduate school teams working for us on two significant issues facing Bellevue and the Eastside: Affordable Housing and the Impacts of Covid on Business.
We need your help "flushing" out the scope of our two studies. The Affordable Housing project is being sponsored and supported by Symetra. The Impacts of Covid of Business research project is being sponsored and supported by Green Latrine.
The first steering committee meeting will be held next week. Please reach out to a member of the Chamber staff if you or someone on your team is interested and be sure to include which project committee you’d like to support.
