2021 Election Coverage: Bellevue Incumbents Poised for Reelection

Nov 3, 2021

After a successful election cycle, the Eastside Business Alliance raised more than $200,000 to elect business-friendly, pro-economic growth candidates throughout Eastside communities.

While most results will be finalized in the coming days, Tuesday night results fared well for EBA-supported candidates. In Bellevue, all three EBA-endorsed candidates led their opponents by a steady, sizable margin. Mayor Lynne Robinson, Deputy Mayor Jared Nieuwenhuis, and Councilmember Conrad Lee all led their opponents by 39%, 17%, and 12%, respectively. EBA played an active role in these races, sending out a slate card mailer and get-out-the-vote text messages in support of all three incumbents.

EBA also executed a significant independent expenditure in support of Deputy Mayor Jared Nieuwenhuis, sending out mailers, placing digital and pre-roll ads, and making get-out-the-vote calls on his behalf.

In King County, Executive Dow Constantine led opponent and state senator Joe Nguyen in the early returns. King County Councilmember Reagan Dunn was declared the winner in district nine after garnering nearly two-thirds of the vote. Meanwhile, longtime county councilmember Kathy Lambert trails her opponent, Sarah Perry.

Across the lake, Seattle voters said goodbye to progressive candidates, choosing to elect Bruce Harrell as the city’s next mayor and Ann Davison as Seattle city attorney. It’s clear Seattle voters are eager for a change.

The closest races of the election are in the Port of Seattle, where incumbents Stephanie Bowman and Peter Steinbrueck lead their opponents by 2% and less than 1% respectively.
